Privacy Policy

Tidyfold is a browser extension that adds folders to AI chat websites such as ChatGPT. This policy describes what it stores on your device, what it sends, and what it never does.

What Tidyfold stores

• Folder names, colors and structure you create.
• For each chat you file: its conversation ID, its title as shown in the sidebar, its URL, and which folder you put it in.

This data is stored only on your device using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. Your folders, chat titles and URLs are never sent to us or to any third party.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which features are used and where people run into trouble, Tidyfold collects anonymous usage statistics: for example how often folders are created, chats are filed or search is used, together with the extension version, browser type and operating system. On their own these statistics cannot be used to identify you, and they never include your folder names, chat titles, links, messages, or anything you type.

Usage statistics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time with the Share anonymous usage stats switch in the extension popup. They are processed on our behalf by Mixpanel, an analytics service, in the United States.

Usage statistics are anonymous. The one exception is when you give us your email address yourself, by buying Tidyfold Pro or by claiming the thank-you gift on the uninstall page: then that email is kept with your install’s statistics so we can recognise you as a customer and help with your licence. Card details always stay with Dodo Payments.

What Tidyfold does not do

• It does not read, store or transmit your ChatGPT session token, cookies or login.
• It does not read the content of your messages.
• It does not transmit your folder names, chat titles or URLs.
• It does not include advertising, and it does not sell, share or transfer user data to anyone.
• Beyond the usage statistics above, it only contacts our servers for its own settings and Dodo Payments to check a Pro license key.

Permissions

Tidyfold requests a single permission, storage, to save your folders locally. Its content script runs only on the chat sites listed in the extension manifest.

Your data

You can export all Tidyfold data as a JSON file from the extension popup at any time, and delete everything on your device by uninstalling the extension.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies. It collects anonymous usage statistics of its own: which pages are viewed, where visitors came from (the referring site and campaign tags, never the full address), and clicks on the install button. A random visitor identifier is kept in your browser's local storage so that repeat visits count as one visitor; it is not linked to your name or email, and your IP address is not stored. These statistics are processed by Mixpanel in the United States. If your browser sends the Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is collected or stored. When you uninstall the extension, your browser opens a short optional question here; if usage statistics were on, opening it is counted as an uninstall, and if you answer we receive your answer. If you choose to leave your email address there to claim the thank-you gift (a time-limited Pro licence), we store it together with your answer, create a customer record for you at Dodo Payments containing that email, your answer and your note so the licence key can be issued, and use the email only to reply about the gift. The Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured on that page as well: with either set, nothing is recorded unless you submit the form yourself. The embedded demo video is served by YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments on their own checkout pages, under their privacy policy.
